Troop 11 Winter Campout: Guadalupe Peak/Carlsbad Caverns - Interest Survey

This Eventbrite is to identify scouts and adult leaders interested in going on the Troop's Winter Campout to touch the "Top of Texas" and to explore the depths of New Mexico. We plan to hike to the high point of Texas: Guadalupe Peak (8,751 feet). We will also take a day trip to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico and take a ranger-guided tour of the deep caves. Time and weather permitting, we will take additional hikes in Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

Campers should be in condition to complete an ascent of Guadalupe Peak. The trail is a very strenuous 8 ½ mile hike with a 3,000 foot elevation gain. It will take from 6 to 8 hours to complete the round trip which we will undertake in one day. This campout is part of the Troop's preparation for Philmont 2018.

This survey is intended to gauge interest in the trip and determine when the trip should occur. Please indicate your interest and a choice for the date of the trip in your response. We will pick the dates with the most interest. There are two options:

December Option: December 26 - December 31, 2017 (planning to by mid-afternoon)

January Option: January 2 - January 7, 2018 (planning to return by mid-afternoon)

If you could attend on either date option, select the dates you prefer and indicate that you could attend on either date in the survey.

There is no cost to this survey, but the trip will cost around $450. This survey closes on October 23, 2017.

Attendance may be limited. Priority will be given to Philmont 2018 participants and the order of responses to this survey.

Please let me know if you have any questions,
